Different Types of UK Moth

There are four moth species in the UK whose larvae can cause damage in your home. Here is how to identify them:

  • Common clothes moth. The larvae of this moth will create irregular holes in clothing and fabrics.
  • Case bearing clothes moth. If you notice small holes of a more uniform size, these larvae are most likely to be responsible.
  • Brown house moth. Leather items are most at risk from brown house moth larvae.
  • White shouldered house moth. You will usually find these moth larvae scavenging for food rather than feeding on textiles.

How Can Moths be Eradicated?
